Airbus A320
The Aircraft: Airbus pioneered the fly-by-wire concept with its A320 Family, and years of reliable service around the world have proven its significant benefits through commonality, improved flight safety, reduced pilot workload, a reduction of mechanical parts, and real-time monitoring of all aircraft systems. The use of a digital cabin management system on all A320 Family aircraft makes the control of interior lighting, temperature, audio/video and other systems quick and easy through a centralised data system. Airbus’ A320 Family sets the standards for passenger comfort, featuring the widest fuselage of any single-aisle aircraft. This provides wider seats for passengers; and a larger aisle that enables faster boarding and deplaning, as well an easier movement of passengers, cabin crew and service carts during flight. The A320 Family’s advanced cockpit is virtually identical to that of the A330 and A340 widebody aircraft, and it will retain a high degree of similarity with the new 555-seat A380. A single type rating enables pilots to fly the A318, A319, A320 and A321, while transition to the larger A330, A340 and A380 is facilitated by the commonality that exists between all Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft. With more than 3,200 aircraft sold worldwide, the A320 Family is the undisputed leader in the single-aisle jetliner marketplace.. Courtesy: Airbus Corporation |
