Airbus pioneered the fly-by-wire concept with its A320 Family, and years of reliable service around the world have proven its significant benefits through commonality, improved flight safety, reduced pilot workload, a reduction of mechanical parts, and real-time monitoring of all aircraft systems. The use of a digital cabin management system on all A320 Family aircraft makes the control of interior lighting, temperature, audio/video and other systems quick and easy through a centralised data system.

The twin-engine A330 combines some of the lowest operating costs of any aircraft ever designed with maximum flexibility for a wide range of route structures. The A330-300, which first entered service in early 1994, typically seats 335 passengers in two classes or 295 passengers in three classes and can fly up to 5,600 nm/10,400 km. It was joined in 1998 by the A330-200, which offers long range capability of up to 6,650 nm/12,300 km with ETOPS capability on the routes for which it was designed and seats 253 passengers in three classes.

The A340-300 was made for the 300-seat long-range market. It offers lower costs than competing aircraft over any range. The ability to generate profits on routes not viable with older or oversized equipment increases flexibility and gives access to new markets. Direct point-to-point services and increased flight frequencies provide the marketing advantage required to win high-yield traffic, while the luxurious and spacious cabin helps keep it. The A340-300 flies 295 passengers in a typical three-class cabin layout over 7,400 nm/13,700 km range.

On December 5, 1960 Boeing announced the production of its 727, the first commercial three engine jet. United and Eastern Airlines immediately placed orders for 40 apiece, the first of which (727-100s) entered service in 1964. Its unprecedented low-speed landing and takeoff performance along with its luxuriously wide fuselage would make the 727 by far the most popular aircraft in the world through the first 35 years of jet transportation. In 1967 the 727-200 was introduced with a 20-foot-longer fuselage which could accommodate up to 189 passengers.

The Boeing 737 first flew in 1967. Designed as a intermediate range commercial transport it went through several modifications. The 400 model in use by Altair Virtual saw the length increased for greater capacity and modification to it's engines. Altair Virtual Airlines has both the Dreamfleet B737-400 and the Microsoft default aircrafts available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 and the default aircraft available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.
