Instrument Checkride -
Your instrument checkride will be flown in the Beech Baron 58, and will take you from Santa Barbara (KSBA) to Los Angeles International (KLAX). You may fly this with or without FS ATC, but will find if you do use ATC, it will vector you off of the procedures I want you to fly. You must fly the Departure Procedure and STAR as charted to pass this checkride. If you decide to have FS ATC active, takeoff and fly VFR, or start IFR but cancel as soon as they start to vector you off the charted procedures. Unfortunately, built-in ATC doesn't handle IFR very realistically.
Use of the autopilot is recommended. Use VORs, GPS, FSnavigator or whatever tools might be available to you for navigation. Coupling the GPS or FSNvigator to the autopilot is fine, but tune your navigation radios so as to track the VOR radials per the charted procedures. This is required to pass the checkride.

Download the flight and wx files. Extract the two IFR Checkride files contained in this zip file to your ..\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\ folder. Select the IFR Checkride flight after you start the simulator. NOTE: The default Baron comes up on this flight. If you have the Altair Baron, I recommend you switch to it as it has better flight dynamics.

START YOUR FLIGHT DATA RECORDER - Be sure you've configured the recorder settings according to the flight recorder instructions. Choose 2 second intervals.
Taxi to runway 25, and you are cleared for takeoff. Turn left to join the FLOUT5 departure.
At SADDE descend and maintain 5,000.
SMO is one of the IAFs for the ILS 24R procedure. You are clear for the full procedure at SMO.
Passing the outer marker (JETSA or ROMEN depending on which chart you're using, NOS or Jeppesen), you are clear to land.
STOP YOUR RECORDER - Name the filename with your ALT pilot number.
Taxi to parking and shut it down. Analyze your performance. What could you have done better?
