Welcome to the Altair Flight Academy
Offering the chance to learn...

We are happy to have you join us at Long Beach, California, home of the Altair Training Academy. Whether you are new to Altair or an experienced pilot back for advanced training, our goal is to have you leave KLGB with more skills and confidence than when you arrived. Have fun with the material and practice flights. You are expected to complete the lessons on your own, but ask for help when you get stuck or don't understand something. Coursework is designed to cover all aspects of virtual flying and includes homework assignments, practice flights, checkrides and written examinations.

At this time, we have a Basic VFR Flight course for new pilots, and basic and advanced IFR courses for Academy graduates. Development of new material is ongoing and the training is continually being extended. This curriculum assumes you are using FS2004 or FSX. We do not support other versions of MSFS at this time.

New Pilots: Please proceed to the New Pilots Orientation where you will obtain instructions on how to get started. Requirements for graduation and how to get help are found there. Be sure to log your flight time!

Altair veterans should check the Returning Pilots Standards section for details on your continuing education. You will also find reference information in the Library and throughout the lessons.

We hope you enjoy your stay at Long Beach!
