Southwest Norway Tour
VFR #3
(ENBR - ENFL - ENAL - ENKB - ENSG - ENBR)![]()
This will be a fairly long flight, about 3 hours including the 5 stops all within the boundaries of Norway.
Following the western coast of Norway our flight will begin at Bergen and include stops at Floro, Alesund, Kristiansund and Sogndal, returning to our origin at Bergen.
Bergen was established about a
1,000 years ago by King Olav Kyrre (1050 - 1093), is the second largest city in
the kingdom with a population of approximately 225,000. The airport at
Bergen is about 12 miles south of the city.
Deaprting Bergen Airport Flesland (ENBR), we head north and follow the coast for about 78 NM to Norway's most westerly town, Floro.
The town of Floro is located
on Brandsoy Island at the entrance to
Norddalsfjord in western Norway, 35 miles north of the Sognefjord.

From Floro we continue north, north east for approximately 66 NM to our next stop, Alesund (ENAL Vigra), a pretty little spot than unfortunately FS doesn't quite grasp.
Leaving Alesund we will travel north east for about 57 NM to our most northerly leg, Kristiansund.
Yes,
it's another of the seemingly endless picturesque places of Norway. Built
on 3 separate islands, Kristiansund is truly one of those places that everyone
needs to visit at least once.
From Kristiansund, we will depart
southwest inland across the mountains zigz
agging
our way for 119 NM to Sogndal, known to many football (soccer) fans throughout
the world but also known as one of the end of the worlds largest fjord...the
Sognefjorden, stretching over 120 miles (240
KM) inland.
As we leave Sogndal, we can can arrive at final destination Bergen, either direct (89 NM), or follow the fjord (110 NM), the choice is yours.
We hope you enjoy this flight, Norway although tiny in stature, is truly one of the worlds most picturesque countries.
